Now Oculus has gained another exclusive with the Time Bending FPS, Superhot. The devs said:
We’re now working super close with the guys at Oculus to release SUPERHOT VR later this year. We’re really trying to capitalize on all of the new design possibilities that Virtual Reality is giving us.
The level of game immersion that you get from playing SUPERHOT in VR is simply crazy. We try to add as much as we can to that from us. Recently, we played around with holophonic type of sounds in SUPERHOT. Thanks to that you will be able to for example “locate” a passing bullet just by the noise it creates. No more shooting in the back from now!
What he also said, was that the VR hardware’s motion controllers will be directly tied to SUPERHOT’s stop-start mechanics. “Actually moving your hands or head moves time in real time,” he says. “So you really NEED to stand still while playing to keep the time still.” Which sounds super tedious in my opinion and we’ll only know how that ends up later. You’ll need to learn to stand motionless a lot in this game, something most energetic teens will fail to do.
They haven’t been able to fix all the problems with VR but it will be releasing on Oculus Touch and Oculus Rift. No word yet on whether the guys with Vive VR will get their hands on this game.
Plus the devs also stated that the DLC will be free of cost, which is very welcome in the days of charging high prices for small AAA DLCs. Good job on that SUPERHOT TEAM.
