The video game adaptation to the long running anime and manga series from Eiichiro Oda, One Piece titled One Piece: World Seeker recently got its first gameplay trailer.
Namco has already revealed the game to be an open world game set in the world of One Piece, but this new trailer has revealed some juicy new details about the combat and world traversal in this game.
The game will take place on “Jail Island,” which is located in the New World and will allow the players to control Luffy and features the entire Straw Hat crew.
Luffy is seen to be navigating the world using his Gomu Gomu no Rocket technique where he stretches out one of his arms or both and grabs a handhold, then retracts them, projecting himself high into the air at high speeds, over great distances.
We can also see Luffy using Observation Haki to see people behind walls and buildings in order to sneak up behind them and knock them out.
If stealth isn’t your thing, the combat looks pretty awesome too with over the top move sets and combat style that Luffy is famous for. The combat seems varied too, from a flurry of punches to an insane finisher that looks like a variation of the Gomu Gomu no Bazooka.
Luffy is also seen to be fighting Yonji, Ichiji and Niji of the Vinsmoke family who were the antagonist group of the Whole Cake Island Arc, and were one of the central antagonist groups of the Yonko Saga.
Bandai Namco Entertainment America description of the game:
Set sail in an all-new ONE PIECE adventure in ONE PIECE: World Seeker! Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates are back in a new story that puts players’ into Luffy’s point of view, as he battles and explores an expansive and seamless world. Open landscapes provide many paths for players to experience Luffy’s gum-gum abilities and swing into action.
Characters that will appear in the game will include the entire Straw Hat crew, Tashigi, Smoker, Sabo, Rob Lucci, and Ichiji, Niji, and Yonji from Germa 66.
The game will feature the talents of One Piece anime producer Hiroki Koyama from Toei Animation, One Piecemedia supervisor Suguru Sugita from Shueisha, One Piece game supervisor Yuji Suzuki from Shueisha, and One Piece game producer Kōji Nakajima from Bandai Namco Entertainment.
Eiichiro Oda is said to be working closely in the making of this game. While we don’t expect something of a Triple A game, this should be something amazing given it’s the 20th Anniversary game of One Piece.
