Star Wars: Episode VIII Is Now In Production

With Star Wars: The Force Awakens now a thing of the past, all we have on our hands is waiting for the next iteration, or at least some news about it. Lucasflim now has us covered as ‘cameras roll and the cast is confirmed for the next chapter of the Star Wars saga’, to put it in their words, as they have announced that principal photography, fliming and production has now begun on the 15th of February for the much-awaited Star Wars Episode VIII.

Announcing it in style with a neat video giving a glimpse of our hero Luke Skywalker and fan favourite Rey, us fans could not have asked for something better to get us watching the trilogies all over again. Dwelling over a few details, the as-of-now unnamed Star Wars: Episode VIII will be written and directed by Rian Johnson of ‘Looper’ fame. Expected returns in the casting include Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. New faces and new destinies in Episode VIII will be carved by Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and talented newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.

In no surprises, Kathleen Kennedy is back in the production house along with Ram Bergman with executive production being done by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski. Other members accompanying them in th production crew are Steve Yedlin (Director of Photography), Bob Ducsay (Editor), Rick Heinrichs (Production Designer), Peter Swords King (Hair and Make-Up Designer), and Mary Vernieu (US Casting Director) along with familiar faces of Pippa Anderson (Co-Producer, VP Post Production), Neal Scanlan (Creature & Droid FX Creative Supervisor), Michael Kaplan (Costume Designer), Jamie Wilkinson (Prop Master), Chris Corbould (SFX Supervisor), Rob Inch (Stunt Coordinator), Ben Morris (VFX Supervisor), and Nina Gold (UK Casting Director).
