The next and final DotA Major, the Spring Major has been announced to be held in Manila, Philippines. Following an announcement on the *DotA 2 blog by Valve, it is also learnt that the Manila Major will commence early June.
With the Shanghai Major Group Stage, beginning on February 25th followed by the Main Event from March 2 – 6, before it and The International reportedly going to be held at Seattle in mid-August, The Manila Major is set to be the last Major for this season. Since the inception of the DotA Majors, they have gained popularity with the international and the domestic circuits, with Open Qualifiers giving rise to underdog teams that shook the complete International scene. Popular name would include Mineski, themselves qualifying from the SEA region and being from Philippines.
Funny thing is, when the Majors were announced, people from the Philippines commonly known by the slang ‘pinoys’ started making and uploading pictures of a Manila Major. Here’s hoping we get to see a Mumbai Major someday!
Will NAVI make a comeback after going down in the Qualifiers to a strong Empire comprising of 2 ex-NAVI players itself? Can a team from the Open Qualifier ever make it to the Main Event ever?
And most importantly, will we finally see an Indian team make it to the group stages? Let’s hope for the best!
