With the newest member of the PS4 family, the PS4 having been released recently, many people think it’s too early to release a new console. Sony, however, might release PS5 by 2018, so the PS4 Pro was simply to fill the gap between this year and 2018.
An analyst named Damian Thong, who correctly called the release of Nintendo NX and PlayStation 4 Pro, has now predicted that Sony will be releasing the PlayStation 5 in 2018. The Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki shared this prediction on Twitter.
PS4 Pro? Wait, what about PS5? Macquarie's Damian Thong who correctly predicted PS4 slim and Pro says PS5 may arrive in 2nd half of 2018.

The PS4 Pro doesn’t seem to be competition to the Xbox Scorpio. Thus it is possible that Sony may release PS5 to compete with theScorpio.
This is still a prediction/rumour so we can’t place too much weight on it, but given the reliability of the source, this is definitely something to watch out for.
