After tons of rumours all around, Marvel Entertainment has finally decided to bring back two of their best known and critically acclaimed console games into 2016, and we finally have a reason to smile. At SDCC, Marvel officially announced the return of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 & 2 for next gen consoles and PC, releasing July 26th i.e Tuesday.
Announced at the San Diego Comic Con during the Marvel panel, what we can expect from the ‘Definitive Edition’ of this game was revealed in an interview by executive producer Mike Jones:
We wanted these re-releases to be as faithful to the original Ultimate Alliance games as possible—the definitive versions. However, the team did work really hard on improving performance, some UI and graphic enhancements as well as making the games compatible with modern platform features on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. They play really smooth.
What is interesting to note here is that the remaster will also be featuring online as well as local co-op, something that seems to have been amiss in games quite often these days. About the content of the game, the re-release shall be staying true to the original game with the changes being as described above. The first game’s plot is purely original while the second installment borrows its plot from the comics, being loosely based on Marvel’s Civil War and Secret War storylines.
