So, 2013 is almost over and what a great year in gaming we had! Many exclusive games were released for the PS3 this year. So, without further ado, let’s look at the top 5 PS3 exclusives of 2013!
5) Dust 514
Dust 514 (stylized as EVE: DUST 514) is a free-to-play first-person shooter developed by CCP Games exclusively for the PS3.
Dust 514 takes place in New Eden and is directly connected to CCP’s game, Eve Online. There is direct interaction between the two; player actions in one game affect the political and economic status of the other. The two games were officially connected on January 10, 2013, while the open beta started on January 22, 2013. The full game was released worldwide on May 14, 2013.
A highly ambitious and innovative one of a kind FPS MMO game that most people were looking forward to playing way back from 2012 when it was supposed to be released.
It sadly didn’t turn out to be that good.
The game boasts of a highly diverse and big scaled map and tons of customization but it suffers from a lot of bugs, and the graphics are not up to the par of what we expect from 7th gen games.
Nonetheless, this game is a huge technological accomplishment and it provides meaningful player interactions. A great but flawed game that is fun to play online with friends, leaving out some bugs that might bother you every now and then.
4) Gran Turismo 6
This series needs no introduction for PlayStation Gamers, one of the highly successful sim-racing game series released their 6th instalment on December 6, 2013.
Gran Turismo 6 features 71 layouts of 33 tracks, 1200 cars…Yes 1200 freaking real world version cars! Cars such as the Pagani Huayra, Fisker Karma, Chevrolet Corvette (C7) and BMW Z8 are included in the game.
The graphics are even better than before and the Goodwood Festival of Speed hill climb course is featured in the game.
This is one of the best simulation games I’ve ever played and it always feels awesome to buy and own expensive virtual cars
A great game to pass time with, devoid of any story lines. Just start your career and race around the famous tracks of the world while earning sweet rewards in the process!
3) Beyond: Two Souls
Beyond: Two Souls is an interactive drama action-adventure video game, developed by French developer Quantic Dream (creators of the critically acclaimed Heavy Rain game). The game stars actors Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe. A really hyped and anticipated game that was released in the first week of October.
The game centers around Jodie Holmes (Ellen Page), who since birth has been connected to an entity named Aiden. After being left by her foster parents she is brought up by researchers Nathan Dawkins (Willem Dafoe) and Cole Freeman (Kadeem Hardison),who conduct research on the infraworld for the fictional United States Department of Paranormal Activity, the DPA.
This is a visually stunning game with compelling characters and the game environment is beautifully detailed, the only negativity about this game is that it’s plot gets confusing at some parts and it feels more like a movie than a game. But, nonetheless this game was a great visual experience for me being a rare and unconventional game in the midst of 99% of the crap we get nowadays.
Ellen Page was simply wonderful in portraying her character ♥
2) God Of War: Ascension
The seventh installment in the God of War series and prequel to the entire series, got released on March 12, 2013 and it is absolutely awesome!!
The game is set in Ancient Greece with vengeance as its central motif. We get to control the protagonist Kratos again, the former servant of the God of War, Ares, who tricked Kratos into killing his wife and child. Kratos renounced Ares, breaking his blood oath to the god. For this act, Kratos was imprisoned by the three Furies, the guardians of honour and enforcers of punishment. Helped by the oath keeper Orkos, and learning that Ares and the Furies plan to overthrow Mount Olympus, Kratos escapes his imprisonment, defeats the Furies, and reluctantly kills Orkos. Although free of Ares’ bond, Kratos begins to suffer the nightmares that will plague him throughout his adventures.
The gameplay is similar to the previous instalments, it focuses on combo-based combat and we get to kill lots of enemies!
Although, the core storyline of the 3 main games were better, this game is still compelling as it allows us to look into Kratos’ past and learn what made him what he is today.
The game features a revamped quick time events system to defeat stronger enemies and bosses, which includes the previous system that requires the player to complete various game controller actions in a timed sequence, as well as a new prompt-less free-form system. It also features puzzles and platforming elements. In addition to its familiar gameplay, it is the first instalment to feature online multiplayer for both competitive and cooperative play.
All in all, another great instalment in this epic series
1) The Last Of Us
This game is the Sole Reason To buy a Ps3, not only is this the best PS3 exclusive of 2013 but also one of the best games in the history of videogames! Period.
An action-adventure survival horror video game developed by Naughty Dog and released worldwide on June 14, 2013, The Last of Us received critical acclaim for its achievements in writing, voice acting, sound design, level design, and art direction. The game’s narrative, in particular, was significantly praised for its characterization, application of subtext, and critical depiction of the human condition, dealing with themes of sacrifice, loyalty, fate, and hope.
The player takes control of Joel (voiced and motion captured by Troy Baker), who is trekking across a post-apocalyptic United States in 2033, in order to escort the young Ellie (voiced and motion captured by Ashley Johnson) to a resistance group, the Fireflies, who believe Ellie may be the key to curing an infection that has ravaged the world. The player defends the characters against zombie-like creatures infected by a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus, as well as hostile humans, such as bandits and cannibals, employing the use of firearms and stealth aided by capabilities such as a visual representation of sound in order to listen for locations of enemies. The player can also craft weapons or medical items by combining items scavenged in the world.
This game left me in tears in countless occasions and it’s astounding portrayal of Human emotions left me in awe. A great game with beautiful graphics and an immersible storyline, it made me forget my own reality.
The word awesome can’t even begin to describe how great this game is.
This is a masterpiece and the best game I’ve played till now.
