With the recent changes in Steam’s regional pricing for India and other countries, India has the lowest recorded price for a lot of Steam games. But this also makes a majority of the games region locked. Many gamers now are asking the question how you would identify whether the game you are planning to buy is region locked or not.
That is why we decided to compile a step by step guide that would help you.
1. The first thing you need to do is to determine the App ID of a game. You can find it out from the link. For example, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has the link: store.steampowered.com/app/337000/ and so you know that the App ID of the game is 337000.
3. Then, click on the ‘Packages’ tab on the left side, and select the package we are interested in by clicking on the Sub ID. For Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, that would be 76897. The only ‘Billing Type’ we should look for is ‘Store or CD Key’.
4. On this page, click on the ‘Information’. Now it will show for which regions this package is for. For completely region-locked games, it will say: “Cross region trading and gifting is disabled for this item.” Some games may be tradable among certain regions, and some may be global.
We hope this guide will help you in future when you need to determine the availability of a game, when you are thinking about buying a Steam gift for a friend and want to know whether it can be played in their region, or when you want to buy a game to trade at the Community Market and are trying to find out whether it is available for trading in other regions.
